Our Valuable Team Members
MA(Hons), MRCVS
After qualifying as a Veterinary Surgeon in Belgium, Sarah lived and worked as a Vet in Australia and New Zealand, before returning to Scotland to work in a Small Animal Practice near Edinburgh in 2012.
Through her work as a Vet, Sarah witnessed the effects of human loneliness and isolation first-hand, particularly amongst elderly pet owners. She also became increasingly aware of the vital comfort and companionship that many pets provide for their human families. The potential to help bring peace to people – by coupling the therapeutic benefits of contact with animals with the support of Pastoral Care – was clear. Sarah therefore decided to combine her experience in Veterinary Medicine, PR, and Pastoral Care to establish the charity ‘Pet and Companion (PEACE)’.
She is currently living in Edinburgh with her family and their dog, Ro.
Having worked alongside an Art Therapist specialising in helping stroke patients, Georgie saw first-hand the benefits of alternative therapies. Moreover, the positive impact of her own dog (now a volunteer PEACE dog!) on her life enables her role as PEACE’s Volunteer and Development Manager to be filled with enthusiasm, understanding and passion.
Georgie lives in the Scottish Borders with her family and their dog, Brodie.
We would also love to hear from you if you would be interested in organising or hosting a PEACE fundraising event.
